Microsoft to go on Hiring Spree

In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the growing economy, Microsoft, the world’s largest software company inaugurated its new campus at Manikonda, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

According to Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft Corporation, the company expects to hire about 3000 new staff over the next 12 months, when all the phases of the 28 acre, Microsoft India Development Centre (MIDC) are completed.

“As one of the world’s fastest-growing IT markets, India has long been a strategically important region for Microsoft, and is key to our mission of enabling people, governments, businesses and communities to realize their full potential”, said Ballmer.

However, he pointed out that hiring locally would not mean a loss of jobs in the United States, “There are so many growth opportunities in our business that we can invest both in Hyderabad and, at the same time, continue making many more hires (at) our headquarters”, he said.

The campus will have three units, the India Development Center (IDC), the Global Delivery Center India (GDCI) and the Sales and Marketing office. It will also have a sports and recreational area besides state-of-the-art development labs.

A growing number of multinational companies are setting up shop in the country due to its English speaking, technology savvy and comparatively low cost work force.
