Munnar, also known as the Kashmir of South India is a peaceful hill station with its impeccable beauty has become the most sought after destination for a holiday. Munnar was the erstwhile 'Summer Capital' of the British Government in South India. It is the luxuriant gift of nature to the Western Ghats, the eastern border of Kerala and an adjoining parts of Tamilnadu. The very name 'Munnar' means three rivers and there are actually three of them, confluence of three mountain streams-Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala 5000ft above sea level. Munnar consists of vast sloping areas of tea, most of which mostly are owned by Tata Tea. Coffee and cardamom plantations give it a simplistic and smooth appearance. Munnar is a perennial favourite of Indian honeymooners. Dense forests, wildlife sanctuaries and major cash crop plantations cover most of the region. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. At that time, the hill side will appear bluish in colour. This flower bathes the hills in blue once every twelve years, will bloom next in 2006AD. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India-Anamudi, which towers over 2695m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking. Munnar abounds in animals like elephants and Nilgiri langurs. Traditions of the British Tea Plantation town are still preserved in this heavenly and un-spoilt hill station.

Coming Soon: 30 Year Continuous Power Laptop Battery

Tired of carrying your laptop charger and spare batteries around? Soon you won't have to. Thanks to work being funded by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, laptop batteries could have a continuous power battery that lasts for 30 years without a single recharge.

Scientists have developed the breakthrough betavoltaic power cells that are constructed from semiconductors and use radioisotopes as the energy source. As the radioactive material decays, it emits beta particles that transform into electric power that is capable of fueling an electrical device like a laptop for years.

Though they sound nuclear, they're not. They don't use fission, fusion, or chemical processes to produce energy and therefore don't produce any radioactive or hazardous waste. Betavoltaics generate power when an electron strikes a particular interface between 2 layers of material. The process uses beta electron emissions that occur when a neutron decays into a proton, which causes a forward bias in the semiconductor. This makes the betavoltaic cell a forward bias diode of sorts, similar in some respects to a photovoltaic (solar) cell. Electrons scatter out of their normal orbits in the semiconductor and into the circuit, creating a usable electric current.

http://www.planetofprince.co.nr/

The profile of the batteries can be quite small and thin. A porous silicon material is used to collect the hydrogen isotope tritium, which is generated in the process. The reaction is non-thermal, which means laptops and other small devices like mobile phones will run much cooler than with traditional lithium-ion power batteries.

The best part about these cells is when they eventually run out of power: They're totally inert and non-toxic, so environmentalists needn't fear these high-tech scientific wonder batteries. If all goes well, plans are for these cells to reach store shelves in 2 or 3 years.

So Wait & Watch :)

How to Save Energy: Refrigerator

The refrigerator is one of our major appliances. It utilizes more energy and contributes to your electrical bill. Read on to save energy.

Do not place your refrigerator near to humid, dry and heat sources. But, place it in the location where does not expose to sunlight and well-ventilated.

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

Leave some space for your refrigerator. There should be at least 10cm between both sides of the refrigerator and wall, at least 10 cm between the rear of the refrigerator and the wall and at least 30cm between the top of the refrigerator and the above surface.

Do not open your refrigerator too often and for too long, as the cold will be lost. Make sure the door is closed properly.

The temperature of your refrigerator should be adjusted according to foods in it. Do not simply adjust the temperature too low or too high.

Do not keep foods for too long. Allow for some space by arranging the foods in a sequence. Hot foods should be kept outside the refrigerator until it cools. Otherwise, its vapor can add to compressor workload.

Defrost your refrigerator regularly. A thick layer of ice forming in your freezer can cause less cooling efficiency. In this case, the compressor has to utilize more electricity to keep refrigerator cool and this may finally damage the compressor.

Do not leave your refrigerator door open

Make sure the magnet gasket of your refrigerator is in good condition. Get it repaired if it is damaged.

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

Do not overload the refrigerator as this will cause the air circulation becomes less efficient. As a result, the refrigerator will eat up more electrical energy.

If you are not going to be home for a long period of time, you should unplug the refrigerator in order to save the electricity. In this case, clean out the refrigerator and unplug it. Leave the door opens to air it out.

Biggest Résumé Mistakes

You formatted your résumé ingeniously. You bolded your name and sized it just enough so it will stand out from the masses. You've proofread, spell-checked and edited it to death. You've even included creative (and of course, vital) information about why you're the best candidate for the job -- but have you gone too far?

In a recent CareerBuilder.com survey, hiring managers and human resource professionals across the nation shared the most unusual résumé blunders they've come across in their careers. Top slip-ups from the survey included:

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

# Applicant attached a letter from her mother.

# Applicant specified that his availability was limited because Friday, Saturday and Sunday was "drinking time."

# Applicant drew a picture of a car on the outside of the envelope and said it was the hiring manager's gift.

# Applicant explained a gap in employment by saying it was because he was getting over the death of his cat for three months.
Employers do appreciate creativity in job applicants because rooting through piles of résumés often times can be a monotonous task. The key however is to balance that creativity with professionalism. You want to stand out as someone unique but also someone with applicable experience who can add value to the company.

While the goal of a creative résumé is to make a lasting impression, you want to make sure it's a good impression. Not sure what kind of impact your résumé has? Try getting your résumé professionally reviewed... for free. Job seekers can go to cbRésumé.com, upload their résumés, and receive instant feedback on how to improve their chances of being hired. Here are four sure-fire ways to ensure your résumé makes the right impression.

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

1. Your personal life is just that -- personal.

Hiring managers don't need to know personal information such as your waistline measurement or where you spend your summer vacations. Instead, include information on activities that are business-related such as memberships in professional organizations and community service involvement.

2. Simple. Bold. Professional.

Using pale blue paper with teddy bears around the border (like one candidate did) isn't going to strike anyone as anything but weird. Three key ideas to keep in mind when formatting your résumé are: simple, bold and professional. Instead of flashy formatting and stationery with borders or graphics, create a clean and polished document on résumé paper with consistent formatting for headings and bullet points. To gain a hiring manager's attention, use strong action words such as 'achieved' and 'managed' instead of unconventional fonts or colored text.

3. One size does NOT fit all.

If you're applying for a sales position, it wouldn't make much sense to focus on your experience in an unrelated field like education or information technology. Not only should you play up achievements and experience specific to the job you're applying for, but also provide quantifiable results. For example, it's easy to say that you have experience in sales, but employers will take note if you say that you were responsible for a 10 percent growth in overall sales. Note: including a picture of you in a cheerleading uniform, as one applicant did, also doesn't make sense.

4. Two sets of eyes are better than one.

After you proofread your résumé a few times, ask someone else to review it. A second pair of eyes may be able to catch mistakes you missed and could provide a fresh perspective on how to improve your résumé.

The Best Ways to Blow an Interview

It happens all the time: A candidate looks perfect on paper, but once he opens his mouth in the interview, the hiring manager can't wait to hustle him out the door.

Even the most well-prepared, intelligent job seeker can turn into a bumbling mess once anxiety enters the equation. Nerves can't be avoided -- but some of the most common interview mistakes can.

Timing is everything

Getting to the interview is never as simple as expected. If you need to be there promptly at 8 a.m., you can bet there will be snow, gridlocked traffic or a complete meltdown of your city's public transportation system.

Since you can't precisely predict your commute time, leave as early as you can.

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

Clothes make the (wo)man

If punctuality is important, dressing appropriately is downright crucial. Hiring managers complain that candidates come to interviews dressed in T-shirts, jeans and flip-flops.

"Research the company dress code and dress one level above company policy," suggests Dawn Gill, district director of Spherion Staffing Services in the Southeast.

"If you find the company dress code is business casual, for example, then plan to wear dress slacks or a skirt and blouse," she says. "If the company code is casual, plan to dress at the business-casual level -- which may mean khakis or other comfortable slacks or skirts paired with proper shirts."

If you have any doubt what clothing will be appropriate, wear a suit. And remember: While taking care of your appearance is a good thing, vanity can work against you.

"During the interview process, I've had a few candidates adjust their hair in the reflection in the window behind my desk -- sometimes they check themselves out three, four, five times," laments Greg Wilson, vice president of Levick Strategic Communications in Washington, D.C.

"Vanity does not become anyone in the interview process," he says. "Get it together before you show up. Otherwise I'll think you've never met a mirror you didn't like."

The company does what?

Your preparation shouldn't stop with your wardrobe. Never walk into an interview without at least a working knowledge of the company, its products and its industry.

"An interviewer will often ask, 'What do you know about our business, firm, company, etc.?'" says Ellen Yerman, executive director of career services and cooperative education at Villa Julie College in Stevenson, Md.

"If the candidate stares blankly or gives a very broad answer, they already have an uphill battle to win the enthusiasm and support of their interviewer," she says. "The solution, of course, is research, research, research."

The night before the interview, visit the company's Web site and pore over its financial statements, press releases and corporate mission.

A little too revealing

"What do you know about the company?" isn't the only question throwing job seekers off course. Unfortunately, many nervous job seekers begin rambling when confronted with a tough question, revealing potentially negative information about their skills or character.

"Usually it's the most sensitive questions where people don't know where to stop," says Diane Wilson, a Chicago career and executive coach and author of "Back in Control: How to stay sane, productive and inspired in your career transition."

These tricky questions include: "Why did you leave your last job?", "What are your strengths and weaknesses?", and "Tell me about yourself."

"The best thing to do is to write out your answers and do some inner preparation," Wilson says.

It's not just what you say

http://planetofprince.co.nr/

The smoothest talkers could still wind up in trouble.

"Even if you say all the right things, your body language can send the wrong message," says Erika Weinstein, president and co-founder of Stephen-Bradford Executive Search.

Tapping your pen and fiddling with papers signal to the employer that you are nervous, she says. Slouching and leaning back indicate disinterest.

"Always remember to smile," Weinstein says. "Friendliness is crucial. Remember, if they have invited you for an interview they already believe you have the right skills, and what they are really trying to decide is if they want to work with you each day."

10 Tips For Improving your Wireless Network

If Windows ever notifies you about a weak signal, it probably means your connection isn't as fast or as reliable as it could be. Worse, you might lose your connection entirely in some parts of your home. If you're looking to improve the signal for your wireless network, try some of these tips for extending your wireless range and improving your wireless network performance.
1.
Position your wireless router (or wireless access point) in a central location.
When possible, place your wireless router in a central location in your home. If your wireless router is against an outside wall of your home, the signal will be weak on the other side of your home. Don't worry if you can't move your wireless router, because there are many other ways to improve your connection.
Bad router and good router comparison
2.
Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects (such as metal file cabinets).
Metal, walls, and floors will interfere with your router's wireless signals. The closer your router is to these obstructions, the more severe the interference, and the weaker your connection will be.

3.
Replace your router's antenna.
The antennas supplied with your router are designed to be omni-directional, meaning they broadcast in all directions around the router. If your router is near an outside wall, half of the wireless signals will be sent outside your home, and much of your router's power will be wasted. Most routers don't allow you to increase the power output, but you can make better use of the power. Upgrade to a hi-gain antenna that focuses the wireless signals only one direction. You can aim the signal in the direction you need it most.
Standard antenna and hi-gain antenna examples
4.
Replace your computer's wireless network adapter.
Wireless network signals must be sent both to and from your computer. Sometimes, your router can broadcast strongly enough to reach your computer, but your computer can't send signals back to your router. To improve this, replace your laptop's PC card-based wireless network adapter with a USB network adapter that uses an external antenna. In particular, consider the Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless USB network adapter, which adds an external, hi-gain antenna to your computer and can significantly improve your range.
Laptops with built-in wireless typically have excellent antennas and don't need to have their network adapters upgraded.
5.
Add a wireless repeater.
Wireless router and wireless repeater
Wireless repeaters extend your wireless network range without requiring you to add any wiring. Just place the wireless repeater halfway between your wireless access point and your computer, and you'll get an instant boost to your wireless signal strength. Check out the wireless repeaters from ViewSonic, D-Link, Linksys, and Buffalo Technology.
6.
Change your wireless channel.
Wireless channels
Wireless routers can broadcast on several different channels, similar to the way radio stations use different channels. In the United States and Canada, these channels are 1, 6, and 11. Just like you'll sometimes hear interference on one radio station while another is perfectly clear, sometimes one wireless channel is clearer than others. Try changing your wireless router's channel through your router's configuration page to see if your signal strength improves. You don't need to change your computer's configuration, because it'll automatically detect the new channel.
7.
Reduce wireless interference.
If you have cordless phones or other wireless electronics in your home, your computer might not be able to "hear" your router over the noise from the other wireless devices. To quiet the noise, avoid wireless electronics that use the 2.4GHz frequency. Instead, look for cordless phones that use the 5.8GHz or 900MHz frequencies.
8.
Update your firmware or your network adapter driver.
Router manufacturers regularly make free improvements to their routers. Sometimes, these improvements increase performance. To get the latest firmware updates for your router, visit your router manufacturer's Web site.
Similarly, network adapter vendors occasionally update the software that Windows XP uses to communicate with your network adapter, known as the driver. These updates typically improve performance and reliability. To get the updates, visit Microsoft Update, and then under Select by Type click Hardware, Optional. Install any updates relating to your wireless network adapter. It wouldn't hurt to install any other updates while you're visiting Microsoft Update, too.
Note When you go to Microsoft Update, you have two options: the Express Install for critical and security updates and Custom Install for high priority and optional updates. You may find more driver updates when you use Custom Install.
9.
Pick equipment from a single vendor.
While a Linksys router will work with a D-Link network adapter, you often get better performance if you pick a router and network adapter from the same vendor. Some vendors offer a performance boost of up to twice the performance when you choose their hardware: Linksys has the SpeedBooster technology, and D-Link has the 108G enhancement.
10.
Upgrade 802.11b devices to 802.11g.
802.11b is the most common type of wireless network, but 802.11g is about five times faster. 802.11g is backward-compatible with 802.11b, so you can still use any 802.11b equipment that you have. If you're using 802.11b and you're unhappy with the performance, consider replacing your router and network adapters with 802.11g-compatible equipment. If you're buying new equipment, definitely choose 802.11g.
Wireless networks never reach the theoretical bandwidth limits. 802.11b networks typically get 2-5Mbps. 802.11g is usually in the 13-23Mbps range. Belkin's Pre-N equipment has been measured at 37-42Mbps.

The first six floors will be reserved for parking alone, and that too for cars belonging only to Mukesh's family. Space for a total of 168 imported cars has been earmarked here.

BALCONIES WITH GARDENS:

The rooftop of the mini-theatre will serve as a garden, and immediately above that, three more balconies with terrace gardens.

THE HEALTH FLOORS:

While the ninth floor will have a 'refuge' floor - meant to be used for rescue in emergencies - two floors above that will be set aside for health. It will have facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, while the other will have a health club.

FOR GUESTS:

There will be a two-storeyed glass-fronted apartment for the Ambani family's guests above the health floors.

FAMILY:

The four floors at the top, that will provide a view of the Arabian Sea and a superb view of the city's skyline, will be for Mukesh, his wife Neeta, their three kids and Mukesh's mother Kokilaben.

AIR SPACE FLOOR:

Two floors above the family's residence will be set aside as maintenance areas, and on top of that will be an 'air space floor,' which will act as a control room for helicopters landing on the helipad above. There will be three helipads there.

Nearly 600 staffers are expected to work in the building.
