Study abroad website for Indians

Hotcourses, a UK-based publisher of education guides, has launched a new Web site , targeted at Indian students looking for courses in higher education institutes abroad

Uniguru offers peer-to-peer advice on over 100,000 courses from nearly 808 institutions in the UK, USA, Singapore, and Australia using Web 2.0 technologies.

The Web site features written posts, video diaries, and photographs from existing students about aspects of their lives and studies, including the quality of various courses, advice on visas, the weather abroad, city life, accommodation, and the cost of living.

Meanwhile, prospective students can create their own profiles and interact with them to find out the realities of life and of studying abroad beyond what is covered in the course prospectus.

The Web site allows every university the right of reply to comments posted to create dialogue that reflects the collective wisdom of many.

Hotcourses also plans to launch a parallel Web site for domestic universities in the country next year.
